The Allan Labor Government is making sure students across the state have access to the best education in the best schools, with more maintenance works carried out at more schools.
Minister for Education Ben Carroll today announced 158 schools would share in over $47.9 million of funding from the Planned Maintenance Program (PMP) to undertake 162 maintenance projects between them.
The program funds high-priority maintenance issues across Victoria’s government schools.
The funding enables schools undertake essential work in classrooms and other school buildings such as fixing roofs and replacing windows, maintaining ramps, painting, and resurfacing floors, as well as some external works like improving pathways.
Norwood Secondary College in Ringwood was allocated over $1.2 million for repainting, restumping works, revarnishing, roof works, and switchboard works.
Numurkah Secondary College was allocated over $1.2 million to address drainage works, repainting works, revarnishing works, roof works and switchboard works.
Works are determined by a rolling facilities evaluation process, which provides up-to-date information on the condition of schools to create a faster and more targeted allocation of funding.
The Labor Government is building the Education State so every student can access a great local school and a quality education no matter where they live.
We have invested $16.9 billion over the past 10 years to build new schools and deliver more than 2,200 school upgrades − supporting more than 26,000 jobs in construction and associated industries.
The 2024–25 Budget invested $947.7 million to build 16 more new schools – completing the promise to deliver 100 new schools between 2019 and 2026.
