Students of all faiths will be better supported and connected thanks to a new multi-faith and wellbeing centre at RMIT’s Carlton campus, backed by the Allan Labor Government.
Minister for Skills and TAFE Gayle Tierney today joined RMIT students and staff for the opening of the Multifaith and Wellbeing Centre in Carlton, which will connect diverse student groups to support services, community networks and multicultural facilities such as prayer rooms.
It was established as part of the Labor Government’s $14.3 million investment into RMIT’s campus activation project through the Victorian Higher Education State Investment Fund.
The project focuses on building communities and is part of RMIT’s plan to improve connections between their CBD North campus and the city.
RMIT’s activation project creates a shared city innovation spine and public open space, connecting the CBD, Carlton, Parkville and Queen Victoria Market.
It builds on RMIT’s ongoing investments into research and infrastructure and was funded through VHESIF alongside separate RMIT projects on social innovation, industry transformation, supercomputing infrastructure, and more.
The $350 million Victorian Higher Education State Investment Fund supports universities with financial assistance for capital works, applied research and research infrastructure to foster innovation, create more jobs and grow Victoria’s economy.
