The Allan Labor Government’s massive $53 million redevelopment of St Kilda Pier has proven to be a smash hit with locals and tourists since it opened and it won’t stop there – with works on the Hampton Pier set to kick off soon.
Since the St Kilda Pier redevelopment opened in December there have been more than 350,000 visits, with thousands more expected to do the same this long weekend as they head to the coastline to enjoy the weather.
Ports and piers contribute more than $900 million a year to local economies through tourism, marine activities and critical industries such as fishing – supporting local jobs and families.
It’s why the Labor Government has invested more than $150 million in piers and jetties across the state including the St Kilda Pier redevelopment – one of the biggest in Victoria’s history.
As thousands continue to flock to St Kilda Pier, contractors have been appointed to get works underway later this year on Hampton Pier.
The Hampton Pier was funded as part of an $18 million investment delivered in the Victorian Budget 2022/23 and works are expected to be completed later this year.
Contractors will start on site preparations soon to get ready for works to start in autumn.
To ensure community safety there will be no access to marked areas during the demolition phases will be in place for the entirety of the works.
