Victorian Tourism Operators Do Us Proud On National Stage

Victorian operators have taken home a suite of honours at tourism’s night-of-nights, proving why interstate and overseas visitors flock here all year round.

Minister for Tourism and Major Events John Eren congratulated each Victorian business nominated for leading the nation with the best tourism experiences on offer.

The Qantas Australian Tourism Awards recognise the achievements of the tourism industry’s leading business operators around the country – and Victoria did not disappoint.

Our local businesses and workers did us proud last night, securing nine awards in total – three took home gold, three silver and three bronze.

Whether it’s attracting new waves of visitors to Victoria, upgrading tourism infrastructure or securing the big events, Victoria’s visitor economy is going from strength to strength.

Since the Andrews Labor Government came to office, and established Visit Victoria, more visitors are travelling to Victoria than ever before – and that’s great news for our tourism operators.

Visitor expenditure has increased from $21.1 billion to $26 billion, and we’re working to grow this number to $36.5 billion each year by 2025.

The Labor Government has already supported more than 100 events across the regions and our major new tourism campaign, A Twist At Every Turn, is driving interstate visitation and supporting local jobs and businesses.
