Victoria has reinforced its support to cancer research and world leading health care by partnering in the Leading Health Systems Network’s Safer Care Accelerator Project and the International Cancer Benchmarking Partnership.

Minister for Health and Ambulance Services, Jill Hennessy, was in London at Imperial College’s Institute of Global Health Innovation to witness the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Leading Health Systems Network project partners.

The Leading Health Systems Network is a collaboration of world-wide healthcare leaders dedicated to developing health care delivery that brings together the best ideas, models of care, and strategies to drive sustained improvement.

The Safer Care Accelerator Project allows healthcare leaders and organisations to exchange insights, experiences, and data around patient safety and identify key opportunities for improvement.

Victoria has played an integral part in the development of new approaches to patient safety information, in-depth analysis of maternity safety and incident reporting systems.

Ms Hennessy also witnessed the signing of the International Cancer Benchmarking Partnership between the Cancer Council Victoria and Cancer Research UK, which aims to understand the reasons behind varied rates of cancer survival in different countries with the goal of improving cancer treatment and care.

Ms Hennessy also undertook the official overseas launch of Victoria’s International Health Strategy 2016-2020 and Victoria’s Health and Medical Research Strategy 2016-2020 at Australia House, as well as meeting with the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives, Healthcare UK and leading British universities to discuss partnerships.

Victoria’s International Health Strategy 2016-2020 promotes Victoria’s health system to international markets by strengthening ties and building new links; develops new sources of revenue for our health services; and encourages service delivery and research partnerships.
