The Allan Labor Government is getting on with providing Narre Warren residents with an upgraded police station, with construction now underway at the site.
Minister for Police Anthony Carbines today announced Arete Australia as the successful head contractor to refurbish the Coventry Street site.
With more than 50 years’ building experience and a portfolio including more than 180 completed projects, Arete Australia was also responsible for the 2018 fit-out of the East Melbourne Police Station.
The building project is part of a $78 million Labor Government investment for Melbourne’s growing south-east corridor. This includes the major Narre Warren station upgrade and brand new police station for Clyde North.
The refurbished Narre Warren Police Station will include better public facing areas, safer prisoner processing areas, interview rooms and upgraded cells.
Police workspaces will also be modernised with new energy efficient amenities, technology and security infrastructure.
The Narre Warren Police Station counter will be closed to the public while the works are completed. Local police will still provide a 24/7 response to the community. Residents will also be well-serviced by the nearby counters at Endeavour Hills, Dandenong and Cranbourne 24-hour stations.
Since 2014, the Labor Government has delivered more than $423 million to build 19 new police stations and upgrade 15 more across Victoria.
This is part of the Labor Government’s record investment of $4.5 billion to hire more than 3,600 new sworn police officers, have state-of the-art intelligence systems, better infrastructure and new technology.
