The Allan Labor Government is expanding the popular Route 612 bus connecting Box Hill station and Chadstone Shopping Centre to a seven-day-a-week service – making it even easier for passengers to access trains, shopping and other services.
From Sunday, 25 August – 23 new Sunday services will be introduced on Route 612, giving residents in Mont Albert North, Surrey Hills, Camberwell, Glen Iris and Malvern East better access to popular destinations including Chadstone Shopping Centre and Camberwell Market.
The Sunday services will operate hourly from around 7:20am to just after 6:30pm in the evening – and the current weekday and Saturday timetable will remain unchanged.
This is the latest improvement to Sunday services to the Chadstone shopping complex, with the addition of Sunday services on Route 800 Dandenong - Chadstone via Princes Highway and Oakleigh announced in the Victorian Budget 2024/25.
The introduction of Sunday services to Route 800 later in 2024 will benefit weekend shoppers as well as workers travelling along the route which includes Chadstone Shopping Centre, the Oakleigh retail shops, and the Monash National Employment and Innovation Cluster (NEIC).
These public transport service boosts are part of the Victoria’s Bus Plan, improving the state’s bus network to better meet demand and improve services across the state.
Launched in June 2021, Victoria’s Bus Plan has already improved bus services in more than half of the state’s 79 local government areas through the introduction of more than 200 new or improved bus routes.
In just the first three years, 83 local bus networks have been redesigned or strengthened, delivering better coverage and service coordination to meet the changing needs of the communities they service.
