Strengthening Investment Links In The United States

Treasurer Tim Pallas has met with representatives from some of the world’s leading investment banks, investment hedge funds and financial services providers in New York and Connecticut.

The Treasurer discussed key investment issues with executives from the German global banking and financial services company, Deutsche Bank.

They discussed the global and regional impact of the United Kingdom voting to leave the European Economic Union, and the economic and financial outlook for Australia and in particular, Victoria.

Our state continues to be a strong economic performer, with more than 120,000 jobs created since November 2014.

The Treasurer also met with international investment funds including Cerberus Capital Management, SilverCreek Capital Management, Bridgewater and Fermat – funds that are generally viewed as some of the most innovative in the world.

Bridgewater Associates manages more than US$150 billion (AU$200 billion) of global investments for government, commercial and charitable investment funds. Fermat Capital Management is a specialist fixed interest manager.

The Treasurer also met with Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners, a leading global infrastructure investor.

A number of the global investment organisations provide funds management services to the Government’s investment arm, the Victorian Funds Management Corporation (VFMC).
