I congratulate Jeroen Weimar on his appointment as the Secretary of the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP), commencing in the role from 27 January 2025.

Jeroen has significant logistical and leadership experience in transport and planning. I look forward to the energy and enthusiasm he will bring to the task of leading teams that will deliver the ongoing transformation of the transport network and the Government’s agenda to build more homes.

Over the last ten years, Jeroen has held roles as Head of Transport Services at the Department of Transport, CEO of VicRoads, and CEO of Public Transport Victoria, where he worked to deliver a more reliable and accessible network for Victorians. He was previously Chief Operating Officer of Transport for London.

Most recently, as Deputy Secretary of Housing Statement Implementation at the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Jeroen worked on and supported Ministers in delivering a series of major new reforms to Victoria’s planning system to build more homes, which were announced in October 2024.

Jeroen also led Victoria’s operational response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including testing and vaccination. Under his leadership, the COVID-19 Response and its focus on logistics and community engagement quickly uplifted the state’s capacity to test and vaccinate Victorians at speed.

Jeroen also served as CEO of the Victoria 2026 Organising Committee working with both Government and the non-Government sector.

Jeroen has held senior roles in the private and public sector in the United Kingdom. He has a post graduate degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the London School of Economics. His extensive experience in logistics, public transport operations, service delivery and organisational reform has established him as an innovative leader.
