Statement From The Minister For Local Government

I have received the final report from the municipal monitor appointed to the Colac Otway Shire Council.

I acknowledge the extensive work completed by the monitor, Ms Christine Ferguson, between July 2024 and January 2025.

The report highlights key improvements to be made at Colac Otway Shire Council and provides several recommendations to support the council in strengthening its governance practices.

The monitor noted that the incoming councillors have been receptive to receiving advice and is confident that if the recommendations are followed then further intervention will not be required

I thank Ms Ferguson for contributing her expertise and time to this important role.
