Sharon Knight, Member for Wendouree, has advised me that she will not be seeking re-election in 2018.
For the last seven years, Sharon has faithfully represented the people of Wendouree and Ballarat West.
Since 2014, she has also served our whole state as the Parliamentary Secretary for Human Services.
Sharon is a tireless champion for Ballarat, and her work has helped secure the new cardiac cath lab at the Ballarat Base Hospital, the redeveloped Eureka Sporting Precinct and upgrades to local schools.
From local jobs to live music, Sharon has been a passionate voice for her community. I would particularly like to pay tribute to her lifelong advocacy on behalf of people living with a disability.
I thank Sharon for her service to our Parliament and the Labor Party, and I wish her all the best for the future.
