Students and teachers in Bendigo now have access to the bigger and better school facilities they deserve, thanks to a $7.5 million investment by the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Education James Merlino and Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan today visited Spring Gully Primary School to officially open the school’s transformed facilities, which feature modernised classrooms and learning spaces and upgrades to both indoor and outdoor school areas.

The project delivered a new physical education building and the creation of a “school hub” area with an outdoor amphitheatre, where the school can hold seated assemblies, events and performances.

Spring Gully Primary School’s junior and art learning areas and staff and administration spaces have also been refurbished, ensuring the whole school community can get the most out of their time at school.

The Minister also announced an additional $160,600 in funding towards shade sails at the school.

The Labor Government has invested $6.1 billion to deliver more than 1,400 school upgrades, supporting over 7500 construction jobs for Victorians.

A total of 100 new schools will open by 2026 under the Labor Government’s school building boom, ensuring every child has a great local school and a great start in life.

This building boom will continue over the coming years, with the government delivering 11 new schools across the state due to open in 2020.
