The Victorian Government has secured the land for a future secondary school in Werribee to give local families more choice and local kids a world-class education.
Treasurer and Member for Werribee Tim Pallas today announced the Government had secured an 8.4 hectare site on Harpley Estate as part of a Growth Areas Infrastructure Contribution work-in-kind agreement with local developers.
The GAIC sees developers give back to the communities they are helping build, by funding critical infrastructure such as schools, parks or roads.
The $20.9 million Work-in-Kind agreement has been established with Lendlease and negotiated by the Victorian Planning Authority. It sees the land secured for considerably cheaper than the value determined by the Valuer-General.
Once complete, the Harpley Estate will become home for 12,000 people, with parklands, sports grounds, walking and cycling trails.
This marks the eighth successful GAIC Work-in-Kind agreement. The VPA has now signed off on deals across Victoria worth a combined $64 million.
The future school will be subject to Victorian Budget deliberations.
