Statement On Parliamentary Sitting Dates

The Andrews Labor Government has revised the sitting days for the Victorian Parliament to take into account the changed date of the Victorian Budget, which will now be handed down on Monday 27 May 2019.

The decision to postpone the budget until after the Federal Election is due to the stark difference in what is being offered to Victoria by Federal Labor and the Federal Liberals and Nationals – it would be irresponsible to finalise our budget until the outcome of the election is known.

The Victorian Parliament will now sit on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 30 April 2019 to Thursday 2 May 2019 (Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council)
  • Monday 27 May 2019 to Wednesday 29 May 2019 (Legislative Assembly)
  • Tuesday 28 May 2019 to Thursday 30 May 2019 (Legislative Council)

Given these changed dates, the previously advised sitting days for both Houses between the weeks of Tuesday 7 May 2019 and Thursday 9 May 2019, and Tuesday 21 May 2019 to Thursday 23 May 2019 will not take place.

The proposed sitting dates for June 2019 and beyond remain unchanged.
