Shepparton’s much-loved velodrome now has upgraded lighting so people can get around it at night, thanks to the Allan Labor Government.
Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence today announced the new lights are in action so local clubs can train after dark and the venue can host major BMX events – bringing cyclists and their friends and families to the region.
Further upgrades are coming to the BMX Track and the cycling precinct in the near future including a new multi-use pavilion and enhancements to the start hills – improving the whole experience for riders, spectators and broadcasters.
The two-storey pavilion will give spectators top notch views of the whole track and serve as a new hub for events and community gatherings for the town.
The project is being delivered through the Labor Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Program in partnership with Greater Shepparton City Council. The Regional Sports Infrastructure Program is delivering 16 projects across the state.
Shepparton is a well-known hub for cycling and other sports and the town is getting more exciting upgrades including to the VISY Community Stadium, Shepparton Sports Stadium and Sports City – giving the community world-class facilities they can be proud of.
The Regional Sports Infrastructure Program is part of the Labor Government’s record $45 billion investment since 2014 in projects and programs that matter to regional communities, including more than $2.3 billion for community sport infrastructure across Victoria.
