Up and coming Seymour sport stars are set to shine even brighter with new court lighting at Seymour Tennis Complex and new arena lighting and a roof cover at the Kings Park Equestrian Arena – made possible by the Allan Labor Government.

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence joined Mitchell Shire Council and club members at both venues to announce the new facilities that are backed by a $265,000 investment from the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

At the Seymour Tennis Centre, the additional lighting for the four previously unlit courts means locals can enjoy a hit of tennis after dark. The new 500 lux LED lighting also meets competition standards, opening up opportunities for more competitions on home soil.

The investment will support the 60 members of the club as well as the growing ranks of juniors taking up the game, with the new lights making it easier to host programs for juniors such as Hot Shots Tennis.

At Kings Park Arena the new roof cover comes complete with LED lighting, which means horse riders can keep riding in bad weather. The project has also delivered accessible toilet facilities so people no longer need to use the public toilets outside the venue.

Mitchell Shire Council has contributed more than $250,000 to support delivering upgrades at both venues.

The Victorian Budget 2024/25 is investing more than $23 million to provide new and improved community sports infrastructure and initiatives that boost participation and inclusion in local sport.

Since 2014 the Labor Government has invested more than $1.9 billion in community sport and active recreation infrastructure.
