Ramadan Mubarak

Today marks the first day of the holy month of Ramadan, which will be observed by many of our fellow Victorians.

Ramadan is a time of deep significance for Muslims. It’s a month of fasting and prayer, and a time for self-reflection, charity and family.

From sunrise to sunset, Muslim Victorians practicing Ramadan will go without food or water, so they can better understand what it is like for those less fortunate than themselves.

Victoria’s Muslim community has contributed much to our state. Our multiculturalism allows us to appreciate many cultures and observe many traditions, while also being a cohesive society that works together to make Victoria an even better place to be.

I look forward to breaking fast with Muslim Victorians over the next month. On behalf of the Victorian Government, I wish our Muslim community Ramadan Mubarak.
