The Andrews Labor Government has completed the new Phillip Island Health Hub 24-hour Urgent Care Centre, giving locals peace of mind that help is just around the corner when they need it most.

Minister for Health Jenny Mikakos today officially opened the new $3.36 million medical facility which will now provide a patient triage area, four new urgent care treatment bays including an enclosed bay and a resuscitation bay.

It will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the local community and for visitors to Phillip Island.

With thousands of tourists flocking to Phillip Island every summer, the Labor Government fast-tracked the island’s new 24-hour medical service to give families the peace of mind they deserve.

The new Urgent Care Centre replaces a temporary minor injuries and illness clinic that has operated on Phillip Island since December last year.

The Labor Government is also delivering on its promise to build a new community hospital in Cowes to ensure Phillip Island locals and holidaymakers can get the medical treatment they deserve.

The Phillip Island Community Hospital will feature pharmacy services, renal dialysis, diagnostic imaging and pathology services, public dental services and family violence support services. It will be complete by 2024.

We’re also getting on with a $115 million expansion of Wonthaggi Hospital which includes a bigger and better emergency department and new and refurbished operating theatres and inpatient rooms. When complete, it will treat an extra 26,000 emergency patients per year.
