The Andrews Labor Government today announced the appointment of Bill Jaboor as the new Chair of Victoria Legal Aid.

With a distinguished public sector career as CEO of local governments at Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Shepparton and Benalla, Mr Jaboor has helped drive education, employment and development projects in Melbourne’s West and across the state for more than four decades.

In 2010 at Hobsons Bay City Council, he led a project establishing a $24 million Regional Kitchen servicing Meals on Wheels, which currently employs 60 people and produces more than 16,000 meals each day to supply one third of the state’s Meals on Wheels requirements.

Between 2012 and 2015 at Brimbank City Council, Mr Jaboor worked with the Victorian Government on key projects including the Regional Rail Link and the Sunshine-St Albans National Employment Cluster. He also worked to establish strong links with Victoria, Deakin and Melbourne Universities to improve access to education for students in Melbourne’s West.

In 2009 he was appointed the inaugural Chair of the Western Melbourne Regional Development Australia Committee and holds board positions with a range of organisations including the Department of Justice and Regulation’s Gambling and Lotteries Licence Independent Review Panel. He is also the Director of City West Water and the Chair of the Alpine Resorts Coordinating Council.

Mr Jaboor holds a Company Directors Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors, an Associate Diploma of Business Studies from RMIT, and a Masters in Business Administration from Deakin University, and has completed a course in the John F. Kennedy School of Government’s State and Local Government Program at Harvard University.

Mr Jaboor commenced his role on 1 October 2017, replacing outgoing Victorian Legal Aid Chair Andrew Guy.
