New Judge Appointed To County Court Of Victoria

The Victorian Government has today welcomed the appointment of Krista Breckweg to the County Court of Victoria.

Ms Breckweg previously worked at the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (CDPP) for 25 years, where she started as a solicitor in 1999 before serving as federal in-house counsel for more than a decade.

She brings considerable expertise in Commonwealth sentencing laws and procedures, including sentencing methodology and in prosecuting federal and state offences.

Ms Breckweg also has experience prosecuting federal drug offending, online domestic and international child exploitation cases and offending involving child abuse material.

Ms Breckweg was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1998 after completing a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours from La Trobe University, where she also attained the Dean’s Medal Prize (Law) and the Supreme Court Prize.

Ms Breckweg also holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours and a Master of Arts (Criminology) from the University of Melbourne.
