The Andrews Labor Government today announced the appointment of Justice Kim Hargrave QC as a Judge of the Court of Appeal.
Since 2013, Justice Hargrave has been the principal judge of the Commercial Court in the Supreme Court of Victoria, managing one of Victoria’s busiest jurisdictions, and some of Australia’s largest commercial proceedings.
His Honour was first appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court in 2005, and was one of two judges in charge of the Commercial List from 2006 to 2009.
In addition to presiding over some of Victoria’s most significant commercial proceedings, His Honour has also presided over a range of common law matters and has previously sat as an Acting Judge of Appeal, hearing a variety of civil and criminal cases.
Prior to his appointment as a Judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Hargrave was a senior barrister specialising in commercial and corporations law.
Justice Hargrave joined the Victorian Bar in 1980 and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1995. He has a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Melbourne.
