New Commissioners For Liquor And Gaming Regulator

Minister for Consumer Affairs, Gaming and Liquor Regulation Jane Garrett today announced the appointment of three Commissioners to the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR).

Former Victorian Privacy Commissioner Helen Versey will join the VCGLR as Deputy Chairperson and Deirdre O'Donnell as a Commissioner. Des Powell has been re-appointed as a Commissioner.

With extensive experience in the public and private sectors, Ms Versey brings a strong commitment to good governance and public sector regulation to the role of Deputy Chair.

Ms O’Donnell has served in regulatory positions at a state and national level, most recently as Information Commissioner at the NSW Information and Privacy Commission.

Mr Powell has been a Commissioner at the VCGLR since 2012 and has a strong background in administrative law, regulation and governance roles.

The appointment of the new Commissioners follows the appointment of Dr Bruce Cohen as Chair of the VCGLR in May.

The appointments will be effective from today.
