New Chief For Victorian Regional Channels Authority

The Andrews Labor Government today announced the appointment of experienced maritime and resources executive Michael Harvey as Chief Executive Officer of the Victorian Regional Channels Authority (VRCA).

Mr Harvey brings an extensive knowledge of the shipping industry and commercial port operations, as well as proven excellence in senior management and leadership roles.

He is a former Chief Operating Officer of Rio Tinto Marine and, more recently, Chairman for six years of Port Waratah Coal Services.

The VRCA was established in 2004 to oversee the operation of the channels and port waters servicing Victoria’s regional channels on behalf of the Government.

The VRCA manage the commercial navigation of the channels in Geelong port waters and oversee the channel management for the ports of Portland and Hastings.

Mr Harvey will commence in his new role on Monday 13 February.
