The Andrews Labor Government is fulfilling its key election promise to complete the development of the Queenscliff Sports and Recreation Precinct.

The $3.1 million investment will include a new community gym that gives footballers, netballers and the wider community a place to hone their fitness, while new netball courts and improved cricket facilities will provide the Queenscliff Coutas players the facilities they deserve.

Improved lighting and new car parking will ensure Queenscliff is better equipped for the growing numbers attending midweek training.

The Labor Government is also upgrading playground space and a nearby camping area for families and visitors to the Bellarine Peninsula.

Sports clubs like the Queenscliff Coutas connect our suburbs and towns, giving families the chance to socialise and kids the experiences that stay with them for life.

However Queenscliff Sports Precinct is just one of the projects started by Labor, only to stall and be neglected under the Liberals.

The former Victorian Labor Government provided the community with $500,000 to assist with building stage 1 of the Monahan Centre – for new club rooms and social facilities. The previous Liberal Government refused to fund stage 2.

The Labor Government’s $100 million Community Sports Infrastructure Fund is upgrading grassroots facilities across the state for all Victorians, helping clubs update tired grounds and ageing clubrooms.

The Fund will help build and upgrade women’s change rooms, which are often rundown or non-existent, because every player deserves equal facilities.

In addition, Labor is installing 1000 life-saving defibrillators across the state, so when a cardiac arrest happens, spectators or players can step in until paramedics arrive.
