The Andrews Labor Government is guaranteeing thousands of TAFE graduates will get jobs caring for Victorians who need the most support.
The Job Guarantee program and Jobs that Matter campaign announced today will strengthen our state’s pipeline of essential workers and ensure more Victorians are supported when and where they need it most.
The $39 million jobs program will guarantee all students a job in the social services sector when they graduate from the Diploma of Community Services between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2024. Pre-registrations will begin on 1 September and job matching will start on 1 October.
Victorian students can enrol in the Diploma of Community Services, a Free TAFE course, with the assurance of a job when they finish training. Community service employers will also be supported to take on graduates, helping them fill vacancies and develop their organisations.
The Jobs that Matter campaign highlights a range of roles available across the community services sector that make a real difference to the lives of the most vulnerable in our communities, including children and family, disability, family violence, homelessness and ageing services.
The Jobs Guarantee builds on Jobs Victoria’s employment services, supporting people into careers in a growing sector. More than 43,000 new jobs have been created since 2016 through Jobs Victoria programs.
It also complements record Labor Government investment in skills and training – more than $3.2 billion since 2014 – with Free TAFE courses ensuring more students and jobseekers can gain the qualifications our state needs.
There are several thousand jobs across the state supporting people who need extra care and support. There are also jobs available for trainees and people entering the workforce for the first time, through to experienced practitioners and for Aboriginal, culturally and linguistically diverse and regional Victorians.
The Government will work closely with the Victorian Council of Social Services and community sector peak bodies to support the success of this important program, connecting the right people to the right job.
