The Allan Labor Government is backing bigger and better BMX facilities in Shepparton, with participants to score new and upgraded infrastructure so more people can get involved in sport.

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence today visited the Shepparton BMX Club to announce major upgrades to the popular venue, which is one of the 15 sporting infrastructure projects across the state to benefit from the Labor Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Program.

As home of the AusCycling BMX Racing National Championships, the Shepparton BMX Club teaches and inspires the next generation of BMX riders to go to the next level.

The upgrades will include a new multi-use pavilion, velodrome lighting, major track upgrades including the start hill, and new broadcasting equipment to show the events to the wider community.

These upgrades will boost participation, attract more major events and elite sport to the Shepparton region and make sure the club remains a world-class BMX venue for generations to come.

This investment will drive local jobs, businesses and the region’s economy as thousands of visitors travel to Shepparton to see some of the world’s best sport stars in action.

Further updates on the project will be provided in the coming months, with the first works to kick off later this year. For more information about the Regional Sports Infrastructure Program, visit sport.vic.gov.au.
