Site preparation works have started on Pakenham North East Primary School ahead of its opening for local students next year.
Treasurer Tim Pallas today inspected the new school site on Atlantic Drive in Pakenham, as early works got underway to prepare it ahead of construction starting later this month.
The new school was designed in consultation with local residents, who had the opportunity to have their say during community engagement held during the design process.
The brand-new school will accommodate 475 students from Prep to Year 6, and was designed by architects Architectus and K2LD.
Pakenham North East Primary School is one of six new growth area schools being delivered across Melbourne as part of a multi-school tender with Kane Constructions, which will build Truganina P-9; Sanctuary Lakes P-9 (Point Cook); Burnside Primary; Yarrambat Park Primary (Doreen); Aitkin Hill Primary (Craigieburn); and Pakenham North East Primary.
The Andrews Labor Government is investing more than $2.5 billion to improve classrooms, upgrade facilities and build new schools right across the state.
This school building boom has delivered more than 1,200 school upgrades and 56 new school projects across the state as the Labor Government builds the Education State, and supports almost 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.
