The Andrews Labor Government will upgrade change rooms and improve facilities for players, volunteers and officials at the Dennington Football Netball Club, and provide the Dogs with uniforms they can wear with pride.

Today, Minister for Sport, John Eren visited Dennington Recreation Reserve to announce a $90,000 Labor Government  Country Football Netball Program to upgrade the existing pavilion.

Works will include new home and away change rooms, toilet and shower upgrades and dedicated space for umpires and trainers. Netball change rooms are also planned.

The Labor Government recently provided $2 million in the 2015-16 Victorian Budget to continue the Country Football Netball Program. The Government is committed to building better sporting facilities for regional communities, where 25 per cent of the state’s population live.

Since its establishment in 2005, the Country Football and Netball Program has supported the development of 416 facilities across Regional Victoria. More than $20 million has been spent upgrading infrastructure for all regional Victorians.

In addition, Dennington is one of many clubs across the South-West Coast to secure a Labor Government grant helping Victorian clubs dress for success. The program gives clubs an opportunity to replace old kits with new uniforms, covering anything from team tops and shorts, to socks and footy boots.

Other local clubs receiving grants include:

  • Hawkesdale Macarthur Football Netball Club
  • Koroit Football Netball Club
  • Mortlake Bowls Club
  • Warrnambool and District Drag Racing Association
  • Allansford Football Netball Club
  • South Rovers Football Netball Club
  • South Warrnambool Football Netball Club

Mr Eren thanked the Warrnambool City Council and Dennington Football Netball Club for contributing to the project.

With top notch facilities, there are no limits on what ambitious sports clubs can achieve.
