Moreland residents of all abilities will benefit from new accessibility upgrades at Coburg Library thanks to the Andrews Labor Government’s Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.

Local Government Minister Shaun Leane and Member for Pascoe Vale Lizzie Blandthorn joined Moreland City Council to officially open the accessibility upgrade at Coburg Library.

The $163,000 upgrade delivered by Moreland City Council received $81,500 from the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.

The accessibility upgrades include a new ramp with accessible door, handrails, new tactile flooring, repositioning powerpoints to bench height, and new cabinetry to allow for wheelchair access.

The space has been redesigned to ensure that Moreland residents of all abilities can access the Coburg Library and participate in the wide range of services and activities on offer.

The upgrade also enables the library to expand its program offerings.

The Living Libraries Infrastructure Program is one of many ways the Labor Government is helping councils to deliver for their communities.

The Government has invested more than $42.6 million over the last seven years into library infrastructure projects. More information on the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program is available at localgovernment.vic.gov.au.
