Fishermans Bend locals have jumped on board with the Allan Labor Government’s extra bus services that were introduced last year – making getting home by bus easier and more accessible.
In October 2023, an extra 460 services a week were added to Routes 235 and 237 – with weekend patronage on Route 235 up by 165 per cent and almost 11,000 more trips taken in the last six months compared to the same period last year.
These changes allowed weekend frequency on Route 235 City to Fishermans Bend (via Williamstown Road) boosted to operate every 20 minutes throughout the day, with services running from 6am to midnight on Saturdays, and 7am to midnight on Sundays.
On weekdays, services on routes 235 and Route 237 City to Fishermans Bend (via Lorimer Street) now run every 10 minutes on weekdays until 9pm, with services running until midnight.
Earlier this year, an extra 111 services were also added to Route 606 Elsternwick Station to Fishermans Bend, providing better connections for workers and residents to neighbouring suburbs of Albert Park, Middle Park, St Kilda and Elwood and Elsternwick.
Services on this route now run about every 30 minutes on weekdays and for longer every day of the week, with patronage up over 30 per cent on weekdays and weekends.
These network improvements are all part of the Labor Government’s Victoria’s Bus Plan which is improving the state's bus network, making routes simpler, more efficient and better connected across Victoria.
