Minister for Small Business, Innovation and Trade, Adem Somyurek, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) securing Victoria as the host of the National iAwards until 2018.
The iAwards celebrate Australian start-up companies, established firms, students and other young innovators at the cutting edge of technology innovation.
The Andrews Labor Government will provide $400,000 over four years for the event, signalling its strong support for Victoria’s reputation as the hub of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry in Australia.
It follows an announcement last month that the Government will develop a new ICT Industry strategy to address widening demand for ICT products and services, access to ICT skills and high speed broadband.
The MoU, signed with the Australian Information Industry Association, recognises Victoria as the host partner and special sponsor of the Inspiration Award through to 2018.
The National iAwards ceremony will be held in Melbourne on 27 August 2015.
