The Andrews Labor Government today secured a $610,000 investment in Australia’s largest honey packer, Capilano Honey, creating 25 new jobs.

At the Maryborough facility today, Minister for Regional Development, Jaala Pulford said the expansion project was a major vote of confidence for regional Victoria and our food and fibre hubs.

The Labor Government has worked closely with Capilano Honey to facilitate the investment and secure the overall project. Once complete, it will establish an apple cider vinegar production line, honey pack lines and a new glass packaging line.

Importantly, expanding the Capilano facility will allow better access for Victorian beekeepers to supply honey.

Capilano is a leader in the domestic honey market and the expanded Maryborough site will consolidate some of the businesses operations from Western Australia and Queensland to regional Victoria.

This project will create local jobs in honey packaging, warehousing, maintenance, and beekeeping, and provide employment opportunities for the wider Maryborough community.

Investing in Capilano will also bring additional economic benefits with associated construction jobs during the building and commissioning phases.

The Government continues to work with communities in regional Victoria to encourage businesses to expand , create and innovate and to provide new job opportunities in regions such as the Central Goldfields.

Through the $500 million Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund, the Government is supporting projects across regional and rural Victoria that will build critical infrastructure, create jobs, invest in communities and support new and emerging industries.
