The Andrews Labor Government today announced Ballarat manufacturing business, SEM Fire and Rescue, has won a contract to build 20 new fire trucks for the CFA.
Minister for Emergency Services, Jane Garrett, said the 20 medium tankers will give Victorian firefighters the resources they need to keep the community safe.
The 20 medium tankers will feature state-of-the-art technology, which will boost the CFA’s firefighting capability and improve the safety of crews.
This is another success for SEM Fire and Rescue after it secured a contract for 10 medium pumpers in April.
The trucks will be allocated to brigades across the state by the CFA.
The Andrews Labor Government committed $33.5 million to deliver 70 CFA trucks, which was 20 more than originally earmarked for the first budget.
SEM Fire and Rescue Pty Ltd in Ballarat specialises in the design, manufacture and service of special purpose vehicles for the Australian and export markets.
